Led by Cecil Cooper, who smashed a double, triple and homer as the designated hitter, the Red Sox defeated the Royals, 8-3, for their eighth straight victory. Cooper banged his homer in the second inning, doubled and scored in the fourth and tripled with the bases loaded in the fifth.
