Jon Matlack was the victim of his teammates' miscues and left the game for a pinch-hitter in the sixth. The Braves then scored what proved to be the winning run off Ken Sanders in the eighth on a single by Marty Perez, passes to Darrell Evans and Cito Gaston and a sacrifice fly by Vic Correll.
