John Montefusco not only pitched a six-hitter but also smashed a homer as the Giants defeated the Cubs, 10-2. The Giants settled the issue quickly, piling up five runs in the first inning. Gary Matthews and Willie Montanez hit run-scoring singles before Chris Speier capped the outburst with a three-run homer. Montefusco rapped his round-tripper in the fourth.
