After failing to hold a 7-2 lead, the Rangers came from behind with two runs in the 13th inning to defeat the Indians, 9-8, for their third straight victory under Frank Lucchesi. The Indians forced the game into overtime with a five-run rally in the ninth. George Hendrick drove in the first two runs with a bases-loaded single. After manager Frank Robinson walked as a pinch-hitter, another run counted on a wild pitch. Charlie Spikes then singled, driving in two runs to tie the score.
