Bill Bonham helped himself with a run-scoring single and gained a victory with the assistance of Oscar Zamora as the Cubs defeated the Giants, 4-3. An error by loser Ed Halicki led to two unearned runs in the first inning. Then in the fourth, Gene Hiser, Tim Hosley and Bonham hit singles to produce another run and Don Kessinger followed with a sacrifice fly to plate what proved to be the deciding tally.
