The Angels rallied for three runs in the ninth inning and defeated the White Sox, 5-4. The White Sox built up a 4-2 lead with the aid of a two-run single by Ken Henderson before the Angels opened their rally with a walk to Leroy Stanton and singles by Tommy Harper and John Balaz, loading the bases and chasing Jim Kaat. Rich Gossage failed in relief, walking Joe Lahoud to force in one run and then giving up a pinch-single by John Doherty that drove in the tying and winning tallies. [The Sporting News]
