Fred Patek, who went into the game batting only .230 with 29 RBIs to his credit, rapped four hits and drove in three runs to pace the Royals to a 6-4 victory over the Twins. After the Twins took a 2-0 lead, Patek doubled and scored on an error by Rod Carew in the third inning. The Royals then erupted for four runs in the fourth, two scoring on a single by Patek.
