The Reds began the scoring in the second on a walk to Tony Perez and singles by George Foster and Cesar Geronimo. Ken Griffey walked and Joe Morgan doubled for another run in the third before the Dodgers picked up their tally in the sixth on singles by Davey Lopes and Steve Garvey around an infield out.
