Rico Carty, hitting at a .422 clip since July 6, smashed a three-run homer for the deciding blow as the Indians defeated the Yankees, 5-3. After Boog Powell drove in a run with a single in the first inning, the Indians were held hitless by Pat Dobson until the sixth when two infield singles set the stage for Carty's clout.
