Tom Seaver, who helped himself by driving in one run and scoring another, gained his 17th victory when the Mets defeated the Giants, 3-0. Seaver left the game with one out in the eighth after a pass to Steve Ontiveros and single by Glenn Adams. Jerry Koosman, making his first relief appearance of the season, finished the shutout.
