After giving up seven hits in the first five innings, Jim Hughes did not yield another safety the rest of the way and pitched the Twins to a 3-1 victory over the Tigers. The Twins broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning and beat Mickey Lolich with two runs on a triple by Dave McKay and singles by Glenn Borgmann, Jerry Terrell and Craig Kusick. [The Sporting News]
