Ken Griffey rapped four straight singles to lead the Reds' 15-hit attack in a 6-5 victory over the Cubs. Pete Rose scored three runs after reaching base on two walks and a single. The Cubs rapped Pat Darcy for two runs in the second on a bases-loaded single by Rick Monday and added a pair in the third on a walk to Jerry Morales, single by Andre Thornton and double by Pete LaCock to take a 4-3 lead.

The Reds went ahead with two in the fourth on a walk to Rose, single by Griffey, sacrifice fly by Tony Perez and single by George Foster before scoring the deciding run in the fifth on singles by Bill Plummer, Pedro Borbon and Griffey. [The Sporting News]
