The Expos extended their winning streak to five games when a single by pinch-hitter Jim Lyttle scored Jerry White in the ninth inning to beat the Cubs, 5-4. White, who had homered earlier in the game, led off with a single and went to second on a sacrifice by Pete Mackanin before Lyttle batted for Dale Murray. Manny Trillo homered for the Cubs, who lost after tying the score with a two-run rally in the top half of the ninth. [The Sporting News]
