| J.R. Richard nailed down his own decision with a two-run single in the fourth inning while pitching the Astros to a 4-1 victory over the Dodgers. Jerry Royster scored the Dodgers' run in the first on a single, stolen base, infield out and wild pitch. The Astros knotted the count in their half with a single by Art Gardner, wild pickoff throw by Rick Rhoden, an infield out and a sacrifice fly by Cesar Cedeno.
