. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Pirates, who played without five of their regulars, collected only six hits off Larry Christenson and lost to the Phillies, 8-1. Rennie Stennett, Willie Stargell, Richie Zisk, Manny Sanguillen and Frank Taveras were given the night off by manager Danny Murtaugh.

Dick Allen drove in three runs for the Phillies with a pair of singles. Greg Luzinski had three hits and produced the Phillies' first two runs with a single in the first inning. The Pirates' lone run counted in their half of the first when Omar Moreno singled, stole second and crossed the plate on a single by Al Oliver. [The Sporting News]
