Toby Harrah's bases-loaded bloop single with two out in the 11th inning drove in the winning run as the Rangers opened their season with a 2-1 victory over the Twins. Gaylord Perry went the route for the winners, retiring the last 15 men he faced.

The game-winning hit was preceded by Roy Smalley's one-out single, a fielder's choice, walk to Lenny Randle and single by Juan Beniquez. President Gerald Ford threw out the ceremonial first pitch and watched one inning of play. [The Sporting News]
