Backed by three homers, Dock Ellis made an impressive A. L. debut by pitching the Yankees to a 7-1 victory over the Orioles. Willie Randolph, who was obtained from the Pirates along with Ellis, hit one of the Yankees' homers. The others were blasted by Graig Nettles and Roy White. [The Sporting News]
