. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Completing a sweep of the three-game series, the Rangers defeated the Athletics, 4-2, behind the six-hit pitching of Gaylord Perry. At one stretch, Perry retired 12 men in order. The Rangers went ahead against Vida Blue with two runs in the fifth inning on a single by Roy Howell, a sacrifice, double by Jim Fregosi and single by Toby Harrah. A wild pitch by Blue enabled Lenny Randle to count what proved to be the Rangers' winning run in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
