Buddy Bradford batted in three runs with a homer, two doubles and a single and Brian Downing knocked in two other runs with a homer and single to pace the White Sox to an 8-4 victory over the Red Sox. Clay Carroll, winning reliever for the Reds against the Red Sox in the seventh game of the 1975 World Series before being traded to the White Sox, picked up where he left off in the Series. Replacing Bart Johnson with one man on base and none out in the sixth, Carroll blanked the Red Sox the rest of the way on a yield of three hits. [The Sporting News]
