The Padres not only stopped Pete Rose's 22-game batting streak, extending over two seasons, but also defeated the Reds, 7-5. After failing to hold a 4-0 lead, the Padres won with three runs in the eighth. A single by Tito Fuentes, walk to Willie Davis and an error loaded the bases.
