Dave Kingman cracked a three-run homer off Andy Messersmith in the first inning and Craig Swan took it from there to pitch the Mets to a 3-0 victory over the Braves for his first major league shutout. Two were out when Del Unser walked, Ed Kranepool singled and Kingman followed with his ninth homer of the season.
