An intentional pass backfired on the Reds when Bob Boone hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to enable the Phillies to gain a 7-6 victory. The Phils were leading, 4-3, in the fifth when Jay Johnstone doubled with two out. The Reds then passed Bobby Tolan in order to get at Boone, who wrecked the strategy with his game-deciding homer.
