Falling on Fergie Jenkins, their former teammate, for nine hits in 6 1/3 innings, the Rangers defeated the Red Sox, 6-5. Tom Grieve homered in the fifth and the Rangers then jumped on Jenkins for three runs in the sixth when John Ellis doubled with the bases loaded. Two more runs driven in by Jeff Burroughs and Roy Howell in the seventh enabled the Rangers to stand off rallies by the Red Sox in the last two frames. [The Sporting News]
