Capitalizing on two errors, the White Sox defeated the Orioles, 3-1, behind the four-hit pitching of Wilbur Wood. In the second inning, Brian Downing walked and Buddy Bradford beat out an infield hit. Bucky Dent grounded to Ken Holtzman, who threw wildly, allowing Downing to score. Bradford reached third and also crossed the plate when catcher Dave Duncan threw wildly to second in an attempt to head off a steal by Dent. [The Sporting News]
