One out apart, Roy White and Chris Chambliss drilled homers to power the Yankees to a 2-1 victory over the Angels. Dock Ellis, with help from Sparky Lyle in the ninth, was a winner for the third straight time. The Angels scored in the first on a walk and singles by Bobby Bonds and Bill Melton.
