Wayne Garrett led off with a walk, reached second on a wild pitch and was safe at third when Dave Concepcion dropped a grounder by Felix Millan. Joe Torre popped out, but Dave Kingman singled to drive in Garrett for his 24th RBI of the season. One out later, Ed Kranepool doubled to score Millan and Kingman.
