The Brewers erupted for four runs in the second inning and defeated the Twins, 4-3, behind the pitching of Jim Slaton and Eduardo Rodriguez. When Slaton gave up a single by Lyman Bostock to open the eighth, Rodriguez relieved and retired the last six batters in succession.

In the Brewers' second, Darrell Porter and Sixto Lezcano singled and Bobby Darwin was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Charlie Moore walked, forcing in the first run.
