Shut out for seven innings, the Angels finally rewarded Frank Tanana for his three-hit pitching by scoring three runs in the eighth to defeat the Indians, 3-2. The Angels also were held to three hits until they rallied against Fritz Peterson, starting with a double by Leroy Stanton.

After a one-out walk to Ron Jackson, Paul Dade drove in a run with a single. Dave LaRoche replaced Peterson and retired Jerry Remy, but Rusty Torres tripled to drive in the Angels' tying and winning runs. [The Sporting News]
