Although John Montefusco was kayoed in the eighth inning, the Giants ended their six-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory in the opener of a doubleheader, but the Expos came back to win the nightcap, 8-0, behind the two-hit hurling of Steve Rogers. Gary Matthews homered and Willie Montanez had three hits for the Giants in the first game.

Rogers, Tim Foli and Larry Parrish each knocked in two runs to lead the Expos' offense in the second game. Rogers' shutout and complete game both were the first to the credit of the Expos' staff this season. [The Sporting News]
