. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A wild throw by Denny Doyle, attempting to complete a double play, enabled the Rangers to score two runs in the eighth inning and defeat the Red Sox, 6-5, extending their club record winning streak to eight games. The loss was the ninth in a row for the Red Sox.

With the bases loaded and one out in the eighth, shortstop Steve Dillard fielded a grounder by Lenny Randle for a forceout at second, Jim Sundberg scoring, and when Doyle threw wildly to first, Roy Howell also crossed the plate with the winning run. [The Sporting News]
