After knotting the count with the aid of a two-run homer by Amos Otis in the fifth, the Royals opened the seventh with singles by Buck Martinez and Otis. When Tom Burgmeier took over in relief, Brett greeted the change with a run-scoring single. After John Mayberry flied out, Hal McRae also batted in a run with his third hit of the night.
