Playing in his first game since being recalled from the minors, Orlando Alvarez hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to enable the Angels to defeat the Rangers, 7-5. The Angels scored four runs in the third, but Alvarez' homer as the Angels' designated hitter proved decisive. Jeff Burroughs and Toby Harrah each homered with a man on base for the Rangers.
