. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After Bert Blyleven struck out 12 and posted a 5-2 victory, the Twins went on a scoring rampage and walloped the Angels, 15-5, to complete the sweep of a twi-night doubleheader. The Twins collected 14 hits in the lidlifter with a two-run homer by Butch Wynegar among their blows.

In the nightcap, the Twins gathered only three more hits, 17, but their production was more damaging. Dan Ford drove in six runs with a homer, double and sacrifice fly, while Phil Roof accounted for four RBIs with two doubles and a single. Bobby Bonds hit a grand-slam homer for the Angels off Pete Redfern, who was chased in the sixth inning but gained credit for the victory in his first major league appearance. [The Sporting News]
