Trying to permanently replace Brooks Robinson at third base, Doug DeCinces hit his first career grand slam to cap a six-run first inning as the Orioles downed the Tigers, 8-5. Doyle Alexander entered with none out in the second and allowed four hits the rest of the way for the victory. Ron LeFlore singled in the first to extend his hitting streak to 23 consecutive games.
