After hitting a two-run homer in the seventh inning, Wayne Garrett doubled home two runs in the ninth as the Mets edged the Expos, 4-3. Jerry Grote started the winning rally with a walk against Steve Rogers, who was replaced by Dale Murray.

Following a pinch-hit single by Ron Hodges, pinch-hitter Joe Torre grounded into a forceout before Garrett doubled. Andre Thornton accounted for the Expos' runs with a two-run homer and RBI single. [The Sporting News]
