Jim Spencer hit a tie-breaking home run in the sixth inning and Bucky Dent drilled three hits and drove in two runs as the White Sox downed the A's, 7-2, for their fifth consecutive victory. It was Spencer's first homer since opening day.

The White Sox scored all four of their seventh-inning runs after two outs when Dent singled, Jorge Orta was hit by a pitch, Rich Coggins hit an RBI single, Spencer added an RBI double and Don Baylor errored at first base scoring Coggins and Spencer. [The Sporting News]
