Doug Rau pitched his first shutout of the season with a three-hitter and Joe Ferguson and Steve Yeager hit consecutive homers in the eighth as the Dodgers routed the Padres, 8-0. Steve Garvey's hitting streak ended at 11 games, but the Dodgers rapped 10 hits and scored three in the third, two of them on an error by second baseman Tito Fuentes and the other on Ron Cey's single.
