Jose Cardenal's home run and tight pitching by starter Rick Reuschel and reliever Darold Knowles paced the Cubs to a 4-2 victory over the Cardinals. Knowles earned his fourth save after Reuschel yielded a homer to Reggie Smith in the seventh and another run in the eighth on Keith Hernandez' pinch-double and Lou Brock's single.
