Mike Lum led off with a pinch-single and Pete Rose followed with his second double of the night, pinch-runner Ken Griffey stopping at third. Dan Driessen singled Griffey home to tie the score and Rose, who moved to third on the play, then scored what proved to be the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Joe Morgan.
