Defeated in four previous meetings this season, the Dodgers turned on the Giants with an 18-hit attack and batted their way to an 11-3 victory. The Dodgers ended John Montefusco's string of 21 scoreless innings by counting in first on a single by Ron Cey.

The Giants' starter then gave up four more runs on a total of nine hits before being kayoed after 2 1/3 innings. Rick Rhoden, who gained his fourth straight victory, drove in four of the Dodgers' runs in the game with a pair of singles and a squeeze bunt. [The Sporting News]
