After two unearned runs enabled the Mets to win the first game, 4-2, Tom Seaver had ninth-inning help from Skip Lockwood and beat the Giants, 4-1, to complete the sweep of a doubleheader. In the opener, with the Giants leading, 2-1, Mickey Lolich and Mike Phillips both were safe on errors in the sixth inning, Felix Millan sacrificed and John Milner then singled to drive in both runners. Jerry Grote added a homer in the seventh for the clinching marker.
