Dave Kingman scored one run and drove in another to enable the Mets to edge the Dodgers, 2-1, in a duel between Jon Matlack and Burt Hooton. The Dodgers picked up the initial run of the game on a single by Ted Sizemore in the seventh inning, but the Mets tied the score in their half on a double by Kingman, an infield out and single by Wayne Garrett. Then in the eighth, Bud Harrelson bunted safely and came around to score the deciding run on a sacrifice by Felix Millan, long fly by John Milner and single by Kingman. [The Sporting News]
