Jim Spencer singled, scoring Jorge Orta with one out in the 11th inning to enable the White Sox to overcome the Royals, 2-1, and end their 10-game losing streak. The game-winning hit came after Orta singled and advanced on Buddy Bradford's sacrifice. The White Sox had tied game in the ninth on successive singles by Ralph Garr, Bradford and Spencer.
