Averting a threatened strike by his players, owner Charlie Finley put Joe Rudi, Vida Blue and Rollie Fingers back on his roster, but only Rudi and Fingers saw action as the Athletics defeated the Twins, 5-3. Rudi, playing in left field, went hitless in four trips.

Fingers relieved with two out in the sixth inning, pitched the rest of the way and picked up his ninth save of the season. Sal Bando hit a pair of homers, driving in three runs, and Gene Tenace accounted for two with a triple. [The Sporting News]
