The Pirates, after taking a 2-1 lead, erupted for four runs in the sixth inning and outlasted the Cubs, 7-5, for their 12th victory in the last 16 games. The defeat was the Cubs' sixth in succession. In the sixth, Al Oliver singled, Dave Parker walked and Richie Zisk drove them both home with a triple.
