An unearned run in the 10th inning handed the Astros a 1-0 victory over the Mets behind the pitching of J.R. Richard, who scattered eight hits. Jon Matlack, who started for the Mets and gave up five hits, went out for a pinch-batter in the 10th and Skip Lockwood was the loser on his own error in the Astros' half. Wilbur Howard led off the inning with a bunt to Lockwood, who threw wildly to first. Howard raced to third on the error and scored on a single by Jerry DaVanon. [The Sporting News]
