A solo homer by Darrell Evans in the ninth inning lifted the Giants to a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals. John Montefusco pitched the first seven innings for the Giants, but then had to leave with a blister on his right index finger. As a result, Gary Lavelle in relief gained the victory, his second in the three-game series with the Cardinals. [The Sporting News]
