A triple by Mike Tyson capped a three-run outburst by the Cardinals in the sixth inning and led to a 6-3 victory over the Dodgers. Reggie Smith homered for two of the Dodgers' runs. In the Cardinals' sixth, Tommy John walked Mike Anderson and Ted Simmons before being lifted.

After Elias Sosa took over, Joe Ferguson sacrificed and Willie Crawford was passed intentionally. Lou Brock, pinch-hitting, forced Crawford as Anderson scored. Tyson then climaxed the inning with his triple for two runs. [The Sporting News]
