Two errors by center fielder Bill North, with the second one coming in the 11th inning, resulted in three unearned runs and enabled the Tigers to defeat the Athletics, 3-2. The A's took a 2-0 lead in the first on a homer by Joe Rudi, but the Tigers loaded the bases with two out in the third and tied the score when North dropped a liner by Rusty Staub. Then in the 11th, the Tigers again filled the sacks before North let a line drive by Dan Meyer bounce off his glove. [The Sporting News]
