The Angels overcame the slugging of Reggie Jackson and Bobby Grich to defeat the Orioles, 8-6. Jackson batted in four runs, three with a homer. Grich accounted for two RBIs with a triple and homer.

The Angels, who had a two-run single by Tony Solaita while scoring three times in the first inning, fell behind before regaining the lead at 6-5 in the sixth on a pass to Bruce Bochte, single by Ron Jackson, a sacrifice, infield out by Terry Humphrey and single by Dave Collins. After both clubs picked up singletons in the eighth, Solaita clinched the victory for the Angels with a homer in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
